Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush.
~Doug Larson
It's been raining for the last 3 days. It's supposed to rain for the next 4. Last week was sunny and well into the 90's. Nevertheless, it's spring. Virginia has to be the prettiest state to see spring in. Besides all the beautiful flowers and buds, you have the state flower blooming on the state tree...the Dogwood (teaching fourth grade supplies you with a wealth of fairly useless state knowledge). It is the happiest tree I can think of, with either its pink or white flowers flowing over the branches.
So in honor of the fact that spring has sprung...
Frying Pan Farm Park out by Dulles Airport. Makenna with her little friend Gavin admiring the baby sheep.
After months of wondering what delightsome flower would bloom by our front steps come spring, I woke up on Sunday to be greeted with the most beautiful iris I have ever come across.

BEAUTIFUL first picture. Did you take that?
beautiful pictures!! Yeah, it is ALWAYS great to see your parents! They are so sweet to us, and we love talking with them. I had not visited your blog enough to know that there was an ER incident.... AHHHH! TEARS!! I feel for you! I'll be calling you about what to do when Hailey pulls the same stunt! It sounds like we both have two totally normal girls... if normal is CRAZY KIDS GETTING into and onto EVERYTHING! ~ Hailey likes to use her step stool to get ontop of the Kitchen Counters and continue onto the Fridge, before I get to her.... WHAT were we thinking... I love being a mother... don't you!?? It was great to hear about how you are doing from your mom, I think about you and Lucy often.. I wonder what are they doing right now as I run after Hailey.... take care and Happy Mothering! ~
Girl, LOVING the spring Virginia facts! And cute MaKenna -- she's always darling.
I cannot shut up about gorgeous spring flowers and plants. Seriously! And your iris is divine! YAY for you!
Okay, now I'm sad. Crying. WHY MUST I MOVE TO THE DESERT?!?!?!
So beautiful!! Oh to live in a state so lush and green. (sigh)
Can't wait to see you! You'll be here next week right???
Kara, I love the design and look of your blog - and your pictures are amazing. You are so talented. I love summer in Virginia - we live in a pretty sweet state - We'll probably be moving soon now that Jared is almost graduated and I'm so going to miss this beautifully lush environment - I miss the mountains but I'll take trees over mountains any day. I hope you had a great mother's day.
Great pictures! What kind of camera do you have? The black and white of Makenna is really cute. Hope you guys are having fun on vacation!
